How Much Energy Does Your Building Use? New Teton County Model Offers a Closer Look

Energy Conservation Works (ECW), in partnership with Wyoming-based Power Theory Inc., has launched a new interactive energy model that allows residents, building owners, and community partners to explore estimated energy use across approximately 15,000 buildings in Teton County.

Supported by a Community Foundation of Jackson Hole microgrant, the Teton County Digital Twin creates a building-by-building model of our community’s built environment — giving us a new way to understand how different buildings may use energy and where opportunities for improvements could exist.

Through Power Theory’s interactive PowerTwin platform, you can find your building, review what the model currently knows about it, and explore how improvements such as insulation, air sealing, or heat pumps could affect its estimated energy performance.

You can also create an account to add or correct information about your building, helping improve the model over time.

Because the platform relies on modeled data, it isn’t a substitute for your utility bills or a professional energy audit. Instead, think of it as a starting point for understanding your building and exploring potential opportunities to save energy.

For ECW, the Digital Twin also provides a new way to look at energy use across Teton County - helping identify patterns in our building stock, explore opportunities to reduce peak electricity demand, and better target future energy efficiency programs and investments.
